Will need to figure out some sort of quick snap lock for that, but not until both parts of the floor is ready. Plan to build it in two pieces for easier mounting and cable management. Doesn’t look like much left, but will take atleast 10-15 more triangles to close the holes and finish part one of the shroud. This will look dope in black once finished. Love how the different angles play with the light. Somehow this makes me feel about the catamaran. 5mm to spare to the bottom of the plexi top. Very close, but managed to avoid building to high in the front. Love the contrast look of the hard edges of the triangles with the smooth roundness of the beautiful EK Water Block D5 Plexi top. Will need to wait longer for this to set before I move it. Want to create a front base plate to display the amazing sponsors of the build.ĩ additional triangles and a romb later and the front logo plate is joined with the base plate for the pumps. Need to ensure that the height of the front triangles stay below the lower edge of the Plexi top of the pumps. ![]() Started fixating triangles on my way to the front of the case. Very time consuming, but rewarding mod creating this PSU shroud. Lot’s of hours spent already and only 19 triangles created. I cut a plate to sit below the radiator and took a measurement where to mount it on the base pump plate. On the contrary I keep adding Acrifix on the backside of each joint to strengthen the bond. As I’m going to paint it black, I don’t care about getting Acrifix 116 on the pieces. Fixating it with Acrifix 116, wait until it sets (about 5-10min) and start on next.Ĩ triangles and a few hours later and the base shape starts to reveal itself. After sawing each triangle into it’s designated shape, I grind each edge straight and proper angled to build the shape. Here is a shot of the angled edge of the third triangle. ![]() Each edge needs it’s own individual angle to ensure the right shape of the shroud.Įnsuring as versatile visuals as possible I try to alterate the size of each triangle as well. With the use of Acrifix 116 I fixed 2 triangles on the pump base plate. That is also part of the charm of this build. Next step will be to focus on the backside wall and the backside of the PSU shroud.It will be an immense amount of work to finish the custom PSU shroud with its 118 individual angled acrylic pieces. I had a real drill bit that I loaded into my drill driver and tried to keep both a steady hand and not go to deep and cut through. The last thing left to fix on the front of the PSU shroud was to make room for the head of the screw I need to keep my PSU brackets in place. Took some measurements and cut the front part of the shroud open after the rhombus shape. It also brakes up the flat surface of the PSU shroud in balance to the pump cover. The rhombus shape with the design of also making it smaller the further in it goes is a real eye catcher towards the logo and the PSU. Had an idea and made a design in Fusion and loaded the printer. It’s both wrong and wouldn’t be true to my original concept – Unhidden | Tribute. I can’t hide the beautiful PSU behind a shroud wall. Now the pump is even more in focus and the over all design is less boxy. ![]() I cut my shroud open after the pump cover and I felt I had made a great improvement. I felt I had to make some change as it felt a little to flat and boring.Īfter going back to the original shroud from Cooler Master and it’s angled design with a more narrow top I had my inspiration and tribute. The pump is what draws attention, but still keep it classical with a PSU shroud. First print is a faster prototype profile. This is how I want to show the unhide the pump, but still keep it as clean as possible. After some time I felt I had a solid solution. Knew what I wanted as an end result, but not sure of the road to it. It is usually positioned at the bottom of. I started testing different design ideas and print solutions. A PSU shroud is a cover or enclosure designed to conceal the power supply unit and other unsightly accessories (HDD cage, Fan hub, etc.) within a PC case. Work continued with the front part of the PSU shroud and the specifically the pump cover.
